Cultural Resources for Reconciliation and Forgiveness
In Lusaka, Zambia, April 18-22, 2006 the Pontifical Council for Culture organised a first meeting for directors of Catholic Cultural Centres in Africa. Such centres, from arts and crafts workshops to high-level research institutions, are seeking to make African cultural resources available to the Church, family of God, developing a new Christian culture for Africa that is fully Christian and fully African. Such a culture is not merely a flourishing expression of what it means to be Christian, but is also the privileged path for reconciliation and forgiveness, which builds the culture of peace.
Presentations were made by Catholic Cultural Centres in Africa and their activities by directors from Burundi, Dem. Rep. of Congo, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, South Africa, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
Foundational Addresses were also given by Members, Consultors and Officials of the Pontifical Council for Culture, including Paul Card. Poupard, Polycarp Card. Pengo, Jean Mbarga, Bernard Ardura, Richard Rouse.
